Nothing here is obtained by breaching a system, defeating an access control, or using credentials of any kind.The rating is an independent assessment. Simplii Financial is the no-fee direct banking brand of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), one of Canada's Big Six Schedule I domestic banks. Launched November 1, 2017, it succeeded CIBC's long-running President's Choice Financial (PC Financial) co-venture with Loblaws, migrating roughly two million accounts to the new brand. Simplii is not separately chartered — it operates as a division and trade name of CIBC under CIBC's federal Schedule I charter, delivering no-fee daily banking, mortgages, loans, GICs, and investments entirely through online, mobile, and telephone channels.

Simplii Financial publishes no first-party public developer API and no developer portal. A probe of developer.simplii.com resolves to no host (connection failure / no DNS). Simplii's consumer-facing surfaces are the retail banking website and mobile/telephone banking only.
Consumer financial-data access to Simplii accounts today is aggregator- and screen-scraping-based, obtained through third-party data networks — Plaid and Finicity list Simplii coverage, and CIBC (Simplii's parent) has signed a data-access agreement with MX to move clients off credential-sharing. This reflects Canada's voluntary, pre-mandate open-finance posture: the federal Consumer-Driven Banking framework (Budget 2024 and the Fall Economic Statement 2024, overseen by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada / FCAC) is legislated but not yet operational, so there is no live open-banking mandate and no standardized first-party data API for Simplii.
Any developer-facing open-banking sandbox activity in the CIBC group belongs to the CIBC parent entity (a separate provider record), not to the Simplii brand, and remains partner-gated/private rather than a public self-serve API.
