Is Culvia a hosted photo service?

No. Culvia is designed as a local-first workbench. You run it locally and work with local folders or temporary uploads.

Does Culvia upload my photos?

Local scoring and thumbnail generation do not upload photos to a Culvia service. Photos are sent externally only if you explicitly configure and run an OpenAI-compatible vision review.

Is it a Lightroom replacement?

No. Culvia focuses on culling, scoring, review, and export. It fits before deeper editing or delivery tools.

Do I need a GPU?

Not always. The exact experience depends on selected models, machine performance, and photo volume. Local model scoring can be slow on some machines.

Can I use it only in a browser?

Yes. The web interface talks to the same local backend used by the desktop shell.

What is the desktop app for?

The desktop app is intended to provide a native window, local file integration, and packaged runtime options. The backend and UI are shared with the web workflow.

Can I use custom or OpenAI-compatible models?

Culvia is designed to support optional OpenAI-compatible vision review. Exact model behavior depends on the configured endpoint and model.

Are model scores final decisions?

No. Manual status remains the final curation layer. Scores help with sorting, comparison, and explanation.

Is the project production-ready?

It is an early-stage open-source project. Expect rapid changes while workflow, desktop packaging, and model integrations mature.
