An open-source experiment for running a controller-first Linux and Steam environment on M-series iPads.
Experimental and developer-signed. Not affiliated with Apple, Valve, Steam, Fedora, FEX, UTM, or Factorio.
- Supports every M-series iPad released through M5.
- Boots a persistent Fedora 44 ARM64 guest.
- Reaches authenticated Steam Gaming Mode and executes x86-64 code through FEX.
- Uses a slow VGA/VNC fallback today; playable GPU acceleration is still open.
The current physical validation device is an M1 iPad Pro. Other M-series models are supported by the tooling but still need individual validation.
Today: Fedora ARM64 → FEX → x86-64 Linux → VGA/VNC → Metal
Target: Fedora ARM64 → FEX/Proton → VirGL/Venus → MoltenVK → Metal
No operating system, Steam client, commercial game, pairing record, or guest disk is stored in this repository.
