Control Groups (cgroups)
cgroups are a feature of the Linux kernel which provides a kind of half-assed virtualization. Processes are assigned to cgroups and thereby share resource and namespace limitations. It is of the opinion of rdeforest that cgroups are inferior to virtualization, but he doesn't have data to back his opinion up yet.
