Successfully installed and configured Vercel Speed Insights for this Next.js project.
## Changes Made:
### 1. Package Installation
- Installed `@vercel/speed-insights` version 2.0.0
- Updated `package.json` to include the new dependency
- Updated `package-lock.json` with the new package and its 399 dependencies
### 2. Configuration
Modified `/app/layout.js`:
- Added import statement: `import { SpeedInsights } from "@vercel/speed-insights/next";`
- Added `<SpeedInsights />` component at the end of the body tag
### Implementation Details:
- Fetched the latest official documentation from https://vercel.com/docs/speed-insights/quickstart
- Used the Next.js v13.5+ installation method (importing from '@vercel/speed-insights/next')
- This is the correct approach for Next.js 16.2.9 which this project uses
- The SpeedInsights component was placed right before the closing `</body>` tag as recommended
### Testing & Verification:
✓ Build completed successfully with `npm run build`
✓ All pages (/, /explorer, /methodology) generated without errors
✓ Linter ran successfully - no new errors introduced by SpeedInsights changes
✓ Pre-existing linting issues in other files remain unchanged (not related to this change)
✓ Lock files updated properly
### How Speed Insights Works:
Once deployed to Vercel, Speed Insights will automatically:
- Collect real user performance metrics (Core Web Vitals)
- Track page load times and interactivity
- Provide analytics in the Vercel dashboard
- No additional configuration required
The implementation follows Next.js best practices and preserves all existing code structure.
