Floating solid waste in lakes, rivers, and coastal waters causes severe environmental and ecological damage. Existing solutions (modified fishing nets, manual collection boats) are labor-intensive, slow, and impractical at scale.
GarbageX proposes a passive-mount, power-assisted solution retrofittable to any existing vessel.
- Adhesive Belt — A continuous belt coated with waterproof adhesive faces the water surface at the bow
- Collection — As the vessel moves forward, floating waste contacts the belt and sticks to it
- Scraper — A blade removes collected waste from the belt without stripping the adhesive
- Waste Bin — Scraped waste falls into a collection container below
- Adhesive Replenishment — A sprayer nozzle recoats the belt continuously
- Belt Drive — Electric motor powers the belt via a roller system
