Welcome to the public documentation wiki for PolicyWatcher, an open-source civic-tech platform for monitoring policy, privacy, terms-of-service and AI governance changes across major technology and financial platforms.
PolicyWatcher is built around one operating principle:
Do not expose what cannot be explained.
The platform does not certify companies, does not provide legal advice, and does not claim that automated analysis is absolute. Its purpose is to make policy changes easier to observe, inspect and discuss while keeping the evidence chain visible.
- Monitors configured public policy sources for major technology and financial companies.
- Records retrieval evidence, source status, final URLs, timestamps and hashes.
- Detects source-backed text changes through SHA-256 comparison.
- Uses AI-assisted analysis to produce structured summaries and policy-risk signals.
- Applies public evidence gates so seeded, incomplete or uncertain records do not appear as verified public data.
- Provides an admin console for Dataset QA, scan monitoring, source remediation, access logs and VPS service monitoring.
- Offers an objective-based workspace that composes evidence modules around what the user wants to understand.
- Supports staged bulk source onboarding from proposed source through official-source review, baseline, QA and publication decision.
- Lets a person check a policy-update notification through a privacy-minimized paste workflow or the Browser Evidence Companion Beta.
The current release candidate is PolicyWatcher v3.8.3 Extension-First Evidence, with the Browser Evidence Companion 3.8.3 Beta 3 distributed as a separate pre-release channel. Store and installed titles use colon punctuation and the tracked release contains no literal em dash characters.
This release focuses on:
- an extension-first desktop workflow that can inspect visible notification text and nearby policy links locally after an explicit user gesture;
- a mobile-friendly plain-text fallback that never claims to reconstruct hidden links;
- general-purpose organization and policy-category extraction rather than company-specific rules;
- privacy-minimized inquiry tickets and an administrator review queue;
- objective-based workspace composition and staged bulk source onboarding;
- explicit Beta limitations, Limited Use disclosure and non-legal-advice boundaries;
- clean, traceable Hostinger and Chrome/Edge/Safari-source release artifacts.
The extension is Beta software. Extraction and evidence may be incomplete or unavailable. It should not be tested with confidential, health, financial, employment or authentication communications. Raw notification content remains local; only confirmed structured clues may reach PolicyWatcher.

PolicyWatcher provides evidence mapping and policy-change monitoring. It is not legal advice, compliance certification, or a definitive assessment of corporate conduct.
