Finally, a platform that treats spiritual care like the critical hospital workflow it actually is.
ChaplainStack is a care coordination and documentation platform built specifically for hospital chaplaincy departments that are still tracking everything in spiral notebooks and Outlook calendars. It handles patient spiritual care requests, interfaith routing, on-call scheduling, and Joint Commission audit trails in one place. Your chaplains spend less time on paperwork and more time doing the thing they actually went to seminary for.
- Patient spiritual care request intake with acuity triage and real-time chaplain assignment
- Interfaith routing engine that maps across 47 recognized faith traditions and denominational subgroups
- On-call scheduling with automated escalation and SMS failover via PastorLink integration
- Joint Commission-ready audit trails with exportable encounter logs, timestamps, and disposition codes
- Dashboard built for charge chaplains who need the full picture at shift handoff. No scrolling.

ChaplainStack runs as a set of decoupled microservices behind an Nginx reverse proxy, with each domain — scheduling, routing, audit, notifications — owning its own service boundary and deployment lifecycle. Encounter records and audit trails are persisted in MongoDB, which handles the write volume from multi-site deployments without complaint. On-call state and chaplain availability windows are stored long-term in Redis, which keeps the scheduling engine fast and the data exactly where I need it. The frontend is a React SPA that talks exclusively to a GraphQL gateway — no REST endpoints leaking implementation details into the client layer.
