Title: "Thursday's single commit: what the merged PR flood from earlier this week actually means"

One commit on Thursday — the daily blog entry, automated, no human keystrokes. That's the surface. Underneath it, the tail end of a significant fleet-wide wave finished settling: session-init symlinks are now tracked in every active Frame repo, purefoy shipped a structured GPU transcription observability layer, and 22 issues were closed across the board. A quiet commit day is the right moment to take stock of what that wave accomplished, what it cost, and what it left unresolved.

PR #39 merged a ProgressReporter into transcribe_episodes.py — writes structured progress.json at each of 8 pipeline stages (ingest, validate, segment, preprocess, transcribe, align, post-process, export) with GPU metrics and segment heartbeats. Also adds preflight() for AWS run validation. This is the observability layer that was missing from the GPU transcription pipeline. PRs #41 and #42 followed: stale docs/comments cleanup and the session-init.sh symlink tracking commit, completing purefoy's participation in the fleet-wide hook rollout.
