Agency Comics is a developing comic universe about strange people, stranger missions, and the price of asking for a more interesting life.
This repository is the working archive for the world: characters, story fragments, canon notes, scripts, comic structures, and whatever dangerous little ideas crawl out of the walls next.
Agency Comics starts from a simple question:
What if the people who feel out of place are not broken — just recruited badly?
The world mixes absurd urban fantasy, noir, old samurai energy, office-life despair, slapstick violence, mythic bureaucracy, and four-panel story logic.
One day you are staring out of an office window wondering whether life has any purpose.
The next day a beggar trips a ninja-thief, drops the act, reveals something much sharper underneath, and tells you that you may come along — but it will cost you everything.
That is the doorway.
Agency Comics should feel like:
- a street-level myth hiding behind normal city life
- deadpan comedy with sudden violence from the sky
- noir characters trapped inside cartoon timing
- old legends wearing cheap modern clothes
- serious emotional stakes, but never too proud to get hit by a piano
The joke matters.
The wound matters more.
Early recurring ideas include:
- The Rookie / The Guy — the ordinary man pulled into the Agency after wishing for a more meaningful life.
- The Samurai — a street figure who may be mentor, recruiter, trickster, or all three.
- The Femme Fatale — nightclub glamour, bad habits, and apparently a recurring problem with drugging the Rookie.
- The Scientist — obsessed with repeated experiments and impossible outcomes, usually near property damage.
- The Meister — the one laughing because he has seen this disaster before.
- The Piano Drop — a public recurring phenomenon, tourist attraction, betting market, and possible metaphysical warning label.
Names and canon are still forming. Nothing is final until it lands in canon.
The project is heavily inspired by yonkoma and kishōtenketsu structure:
- Ki — setup
- Shō — development
- Ten — twist
- Ketsu — consequence / resolution
Agency stories should often work in four clean beats: simple enough to read fast, sharp enough to leave a bruise.
Planned structure:
agency/ ├── canon/ # Approved world facts and continuity ├── characters/ # Character notes, arcs, designs, relationships ├── worldbuilding/ # Places, factions, rules, phenomena, history ├── scripts/ # Comic scripts and scene drafts ├── comics/ # Finished or staged comic issues/pages ├── notes/ # Loose ideas, sketches, fragments, experiments └── submissions/ # Submission policy and collaboration notes
Only material explicitly marked as canon is canon.
Drafts, notes, chats, experiments, prompts, and weird midnight fragments are raw ore. Useful, maybe brilliant, but not official until approved.
Agency Comics is public for reading and development tracking only.
