What does this PR do?

Adds a repository-scale Rust refactoring specialist focused on behavior-preserving renames, module restructuring, ownership improvements, panic hardening, compiler and Clippy remediation, and complete verification.

Agent Information

  • Agent Name: Rust Refactoring Specialist
  • Category: Engineering
  • Specialty: Coherent, evidence-based Rust refactoring across crates, modules, symbols, tests, and manifests

Motivation

The engineering roster includes broad software, architecture, review, and minimal-change roles, but no Rust-specific specialist for ownership-sensitive refactors, feature and target matrices, SemVer boundaries, panic behavior, and compiler-guided repository migrations.

Testing

  • scripts/lint-agents.sh engineering/engineering-rust-refactoring-specialist.md: passed with 0 errors and 0 warnings
  • git diff --check origin/main...HEAD: passed
  • OpenCode source variant: loaded successfully as an all mode agent
  • Originality script could not run locally because Python is not installed; CI can execute it

Checklist

  • Follows the agent template structure from CONTRIBUTING.md
  • Includes YAML frontmatter with name, description, and color
  • Has concrete Rust code and report-template examples
  • Includes personality, workflow, critical rules, and measurable success criteria
  • Proofread and formatted correctly
  • Originality script run locally (blocked by missing Python; delegated to CI)

Merged! 🎉 Landed in #742. Your Rust Refactoring Specialist was the strongest-built of the batch — 313 lines, canonical structure, and behavior-aware/evidence-based throughout. Clean gate pass (lint 0/0, originality 0.0%). Thanks @TanasiDesigns!

… Finish-Gate, Data Viz) (msitarzewski#742)

Lands four gated single-agent contributions via a consolidated branch
(avoids the README-conflict cascade of parallel fork PRs). Each passed
the full gate: lint 0/0, originality 0.0%, canonical structure, and a
manual conceptual-dupe check against the existing roster.

- Rust Refactoring Specialist (engineering) — behavior-aware, evidence-based
  Rust refactoring across crates/traits/modules. (msitarzewski#741, @TanasiDesigns)
- LLM Post-Training Engineer (engineering) — SFT/DPO/GRPO/RLVR experiment
gating, checkpoint integrity, failure classification. Distinct sub-specialty
  from AI Engineer. (msitarzewski#740, @kaining-never-stop)
- UI Finish-Gate Reviewer (design) — anti-generic UI finish gate; catches
interchangeable UI before ship via evidence + a written design contract.
Distinct from the testing-division Reality Checker. (msitarzewski#739, @samuelbushi)
- Data Visualization Engineer (engineering) — chart-type selection, perceptually
  honest encodings, colorblind-safe palettes, performant D3/Vega. (msitarzewski#729, @Hotragn)

README roster rows added for all four; Hermes generated count 265 -> 269.
All guards green (divisions/tools/runbooks/hermes-plugin/lint).
