January DevOps Summit Summary

Last week Jared and I met up to work through a 2013 DevOps kickoff strategy and planning meeting. We worked out of a co-working space half the day Tuesday, all day Wednesday and half the day Thursday. While we were there we :

• assembled a Q1 roadmap for moving out of SCL2 and into the Amazon cloud
• assembled a plan for the first month of Q2 to both resolve the current risk in having a single point of failure in our DB architecture as well as establish new more comprehensive performance monitoring for persona.
• identified an unprioritized list of improvements we would like to address after the first month of Q2
• started the creation of a chef driven provisioning module for the webhead tier of persona
• had numerous design discussions

The time was very valuable to us both and, I think, served as an excellent foundation for a continued rich working relationship over the upcoming year.
