Weekly freshness sweep — 2026-06-26

All edits are in lib/backends.ts only. Every change is sourced to an official primary URL and has been verified against the neutrality checklist (no banned superlatives or AI-tell words). npm run lint and npm run build pass.

Changes by platform

PlayFab (lastUpdated 2026-02 → 2026-06)

pricingDetails — Foundation Mode added
PlayFab announced Foundation Mode at GDC 2026: cross-platform game services included at no cost for games shipped under an Xbox publishing agreement.

Also updated the Pricing source URL from the old playfab.com/pricing/ redirect to the current canonical URL at developer.microsoft.com.

AWS GameLift (lastUpdated 2026-02 → 2026-06)

pricingDetails — free network bandwidth for Gen 6+ instances
Effective June 15, 2026, all network bandwidth (inbound and outbound) is free for Gen 6 and later instance types (On-Demand and Spot). Previously billed separately per GB.

Added the What's New announcement as a source entry.

Unity Gaming Services (lastUpdated 2026-02 → 2026-06)

Multiplay tense correction — "ends" → "ended"
The March 31, 2026 Multiplay end-of-service date has now passed. Updated three locations:

  1. Platform description: "ends March 31, 2026, transitioning to Rocket Science Group" → "ended March 31, 2026; Unity licensed the service to Rocket Science Group"
  2. dedicatedServers.description: "Unity ending direct support March 31, 2026" → "Unity concluded direct support March 31, 2026, licensing the service to Rocket Science Group"; also updated sourceUrl to the current docs page
  3. limitations[0]: "ends March 31, 2026 (transitioning to Rocket Science Group)" → "ended March 31, 2026; licensed to Rocket Science Group"

AccelByte (lastUpdated 2026-02 → 2026-06)

Godot 4 SDK added to multiplatformSDK and platforms
AccelByte released an official Godot 4 GDExtension plugin on March 10, 2026, available in the Godot Asset Library. It supports auth, cloud save, leaderboards, achievements, economy, matchmaking, sessions, and Extend.

Platforms with no changes

  • Heroic Labs — No material changes found since 2026-02. Latest Nakama release (v3.39.0) predates Feb 2026. Pricing confirmed unchanged.
  • Colyseus — No material changes found since 2026-02.
  • brainCloud — Entry already accurately describes brainBot (brainCloud 6.0, 2026); no content correction needed.
  • Metaplay — Already at lastUpdated: 2026-06.

Every edit is sourced and must pass the neutrality check before merge.

Reviewed: 4 competitor entries in lib/backends.ts, all neutral + sourced. Verified the two load-bearing new sources resolve and back the claims verbatim — Unity Multiplay (concluded direct support 2026-03-31, licensed to Rocket Science Group) and AWS GameLift free Gen6+ bandwidth (effective 2026-06-15). PlayFab Foundation Mode + AccelByte Godot 4 SDK sourced. neutrality + Lint/build green.
