Hi, I'm Kha πŸ‘‹

Software developer at the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, where I build data pipelines and CI/CD infrastructure for the Consumer Expenditure Survey β€” including leading parts of a production SAS β†’ Python migration that modernizes decades-old statistical processing.

πŸŽ“ B.Sc. Computer Science, University of Manitoba Β· πŸ“ Washington, D.C.

πŸ”¨ What I'm building

Haxos β€” a ticketing and event-management platform for hackathons and conferences. Born out of years of actually running these events (CUSEC, .devHacks) and being tired of duct-taping Tally forms, Ticket Tailor, and spreadsheets together.

Kotlin Β· Spring Boot Β· PostgreSQL Β· React + Tailwind Β· Docker Β· GitHub Actions Β· AWS (ECS + RDS)

Currently working through the MVP: event CRUD, transactional order/ticket creation, JWT auth, and QR-based check-in.

πŸ’Ό What I do at work

  • Data engineering: Python/pandas implementations of statistical imputation methods, replacing legacy SAS programs with tested, reviewable code
  • CI/CD: Multi-environment GitLab pipelines (build β†’ acceptance β†’ production) with environment-scoped configuration and automated deployment
  • Developer advocacy: Presented live SAS-vs-Python comparisons to all-staff audiences; pushing modern tooling adoption (VS Code, Git workflows) across statistical teams

🏠 What runs in my closet

A Proxmox homelab that doubles as my infrastructure playground:

  • Docker services with a Grafana + Loki observability stack and alerting
  • WireGuard VPN, reverse-proxied self-hosted apps, and a 16TB NAS
  • An RTL-SDR β†’ Icecast FM streaming pipeline, because why not

🧰 Toolbox

Python Kotlin Java SQL SAS JavaScript C# Spring Boot React pandas Docker PostgreSQL AWS GitLab CI/CD GitHub Actions Ansible Proxmox Grafana/Loki

πŸ“š Currently studying for AWS Solutions Architect – Associate

🎯 Beyond code

Transit and urban planning nerd (ask me about clockface scheduling), conference organizer, D&D player who will always pick roleplay over combat, and occasional game jam participant β€” see CSGameJam-2023 and the Costco Parking Simulator.
