Are you sick of everyone else accessing your files? Want and alternative for storing files securely without having some big tech sneaking on it? Lokit is here for you!
Lokit lets you encrypt your files on-device so that no one but you have access to it. You define a strong password for encrypting and once you've done it, only that very same password will work for decryption. Every file requires its own password and the app does not store it, so there's no worry of getting it hacked.
Once decrypted, the files will be available only while the app is open. When you close the app, all the decrypted will be locked again.
When you get to upload screen, it shows an empty view with one button enabled to let you upload any file on you computer.
When you select a file, it shows its information and the other two buttons in the menu are now enabled for you to proceed.
When you're finally ready to proceed and encrypt the file, it asks for a password for that specific file. Remember to use a strong password.
After that, the app starts encrypting the file and lets you know when it's ready.
In this window, you can see all the files you've already encrypted. Here you can open these files using the same password used for decryption or delete them.
You can view or delete them in two ways. The first lets you do this for a single file at a time. You can achieve this by clicking the menu button in the file list. This will show you a menu with these two options.
If you delete a file in this way it won't ask for your confirmation. For decrypting, it's always required the password.
Once you enter the same password for that file, it will decrypt it and open with system default app for that content type. The there's no installed app for this content type, an error will be thrown with the corresponding message.
The other way to access the files (or even delete them), is by selecting the ones and click the button for the desired action. You can select the files with a single click in.
You have to confirm before proceeding deleting multiple files.
If you want to delete all the encrypted files at one, you can go to settings and click the Delete button.
