OS Component Website

This project is a template to build a low key (in terms of product branding) OS component website in the likes of Pipewire, Tracker, Toolbx, Desktop Portal, Mutter, Fleet Commander and Granite.code.

Some other unrealized projects using the template: Pango, Silverblue, Flatpak and Polkit. And finally some projects that are in a bit of a limbo: Cairo, Freedesktop SDK.

The top level goal was to make it a nicer looking, spam-free alternative to a wiki:

  • Easily editable source in the form of markdown text.
  • As close to HTML+CSS as possible. Originally built with Jekyll, the template has been ported to Zola -- a single static binary with no dependencies. Builds are near-instant and there's no Ruby/gem dependency hell to deal with. Easy integration with Gitlab and GitHub hosting.

If you are a Free software project fitting into the category of OS component, feel free to file an issue here to request pixel art for your site.

To learn how to set up the site locally and where to start customizing, see the bare template live. It includes all the eassential info to get started.
