… calendar rings arrive with scale Frame library fit on Mistral-7B-Instruct-v0.3 (5th backbone, hub tier b649f6c3): all 14 frames 0.87-0.97 — the best floor of any model; the competence-potency oblique pair is the max off-diagonal for the FIFTH model in a row (0.379). time_ring on Mistral (script gains an argv model override): months CIRCULAR (circ 0.81 @l9 vs lin 0.69, circ wins nearly every layer); weekdays LINEAR through L24 then CIRCULAR late (0.93 @L30, wrap-rank 2/21 — the ring is CONSTRUCTED in the last layers); numbers control linear everywhere. Our supervised probe finds Engels et al.'s calendar rings on their model — no methodological disagreement: SmolLM2 genuinely lacks the rings ('time is a line' is a small-model property), Mistral genuinely has them. color_ring on Mistral: hue ring replicates and strengthens (R=0.78 @L18 vs naive 0.48; L0 ties) — hue-is-a-ring is now two families, two scales.
