Welcome to the Sphinx

Sphinx is a lighting-fast, distributed SQL queries for petabytes of spatial data stored in Apache Hadoop clusters.

Sphinx is based on Cloudera Impala, Sphinx updated the layers of Impala to allow it query spatial data using different Spatial Indexes in an optimized way for more fast querying on spatial data.

Sphinx currently, uses SpatialHadoop for indexing spatial data:

• Only HDFS is supported as a data source.
• Grid indexing and RTree indexing are the only supported indexes for this version of Sphinx.

Building Sphinx
