Filling the gaps in the Minecraft Lore.
Dark Diplomacy is a lore-driven "Vanilla+" mod for Fabric 1.21.X. It reimagines the relationship between players and Illagers, introducing a new underground economy fueled by Rubies. Forget fighting every Pillager you see. With the right artifact in hand, you can walk among them, trade with them, and acquire the magical tools they use to dominate the world. The current focus of the mod is The Illager Black Market: a new economy based on Rubies, dark diplomacy, and forbidden magic.
Ruby returns to Minecraft not as just another toolset, but as a currency of the deep and the outcast.
- Inverted Generation: Unlike Emeralds (which love mountains and height), Rubies are found deep underground, thriving in Deepslate layers.
- Biomes: They are exclusive to major forests and dense, dark biomes like the Dark Forests and Jungles.
- Usage: Focuses on Trade and Magic. Primarily used for trading with Illagers and crafting Amulets.
Craftable artifacts that allow you to manipulate mob behavior using specific gems (Ruby and Emerald, combined with Iron and Copper Nuggets.
- 🔴 Ruby Amulet: "A symbol of authority."
- When held, Illagers recognize you as a superior and remain neutral. This allows you to explore Mansions safely and trade.
- 🟢 Emerald Amulet: "A symbol of friendship."
- When held, Villagers are attracted to you and will follow you (similar to animals following food). Perfect for transporting villagers without boats!
With a Ruby Amulet in hand, you can access the "Black Market" found within Woodland Mansions and Pillager Outposts.
A smuggler who resides in the corridors of Mansions ("End Illager" from Minecraft Dungeons).
- Behavior: Aggressive melee fighter, but trades when you hold the Ruby Amulet.
- Sells: Combat supplies, dangerous potions, and Magic Runes.
A scholar of forbidden arts ("Mage" from Minecraft Dungeons).
- Behavior: Uses Levitation spells to incapacitate intruders.
- Sells: Lapis Lazuli, enchanting supplies, and powerful Magic Tomes.
Purchased from the Renegade. These appear as small, rune-etched stone buttons that can be placed on floors or walls. They act as "magical landmines" that activate upon contact.
- 🔴 Rune of Snare: Summons Evoker Fangs to bite the victim.
- 🟣 Rune of Toxin: Releases a lingering cloud of Poison.
- 🟠 Rune of Blast: Causes a small explosion that knocks entities away without breaking blocks.
Purchased from the Mage. These are powerful utility spellbooks.
- Mechanic: Tomes have durability (Charge). To recharge them, you must combine the empty Tome with Lapis Lazuli in an Anvil.
- 🌪️ Tome of Gale: Blasts enemies away or propels the user forward.
- 🌑 Tome of Shadows: Grants temporary Invisibility and Speed.
- 🩸 Tome of Leeching: Passive off-hand item that heals the user when they defeat enemies.
The mod is under active development. Future updates will focus on:
- ⚰️ Death Mechanics: New Totems and Grave systems (Soul Protection).
- 🔮 Magic Updates: More Romes and Runes variants.
- 🏛️ Structure Updates: Expanding the lore of the Illagers.
