After chatting with @l-trotta here: #6429 (comment) the recommended command execution is
make generate && make compile && make spec-format-fix && make contribmake contribhas most of that already except thecompiletarget. So I'm opening this PR to see if there's any reason not to havecontribhandle that too? Then all we need to do ismake contrib.
