Data and Human Space (CDAD-UH 1033EQ)

This repository contains the Jekyll-based website for CDAD-UH 1033EQ: Data and Human Space at NYU Abu Dhabi.

About the Course

This course explores the intersection of technology, geography, and human space through the lens of digital mapping, geospatial analysis, and data visualization. Students engage with tools like OpenStreetMap, ArcGIS Online, ESRI Storymaps, and R to understand how maps represent (and misrepresent) our world.

Building and Running Locally

Prerequisites

  • Ruby 2.7.0 or higher
  • Bundler

Installation

  1. Clone this repository:

    git clone https://github.com/djwrisley/DHS.git
    cd DHS
  2. Install dependencies:

    bundle install
  3. Run the Jekyll development server:

    bundle exec jekyll serve
  4. Open your browser and visit: http://localhost:4000

Deployment

This site is deployed using GitHub Pages. Simply push changes to the main branch, and the site will rebuild automatically.
