Atm, I am not sure if we want to introduce this.
The goal of this repo is to get a set of UDFs defined and then later upstreamed to Datafusion proper

Thank you for the review, @friendlymatthew! Yes, I'm aware that this is intended to be upstreamed into DataFusion proper eventually. I suggested this because I thought it might help make that future integration more graceful — but if it's considered unnecessary at this stage, I'm happy to close the PR.
