Thanks for creating this - very cool and likely handy to many people. How would you feel about making this a separate helper plugin? I'd like to avoid bloating the core plugin and don't want to need to account for testing this in future releases, etc. |

If you do break it out to a separate plugin and need hooks, I'd be happy to add them (or accept a pull request). I can add a note about the plugin in the README FAQ and upgrade notice. |

Yep, that's fine. I'll probably only get around to it when I need to. i.e. when there's an update I have to merge into my branch. |

Also, I've discovered this doesn't always work. I tried importing some tweets from 2012 and it didn't work. Looks like the Twitter API doesn't allow you to retrieve tweets beyond a certain time period... so I still have some tweets missing. I may put future effort into building an importer to operate on the Twitter archive file you can download from your account and fill in the missing tweets. |

I think someone created one that will read from the archive you can download from Twitter - check the WP.org forums. |

From time to time, Twitter Tools has stopped working for whatever reason. Often times it's a change to the Twitter API that requires an update to Social and Twitter Tools and by the time I update the plugins, it has missed a bunch of tweets. I had just ignored this until now and so have little patches of tweets missing in my history.
This tool allows you to fill in those patches by giving the tweet ID to start at and how many tweets before that to import.
