Updates egui from 0.34.3 to 0.35.0

Release notes

Sourced from egui's releases.

0.35.0 - Inspection, egui_mcp, classes and improved IME

egui is an easy-to-use immediate mode GUI for Rust that runs on both web and native.

Try it now: https://www.egui.rs/

egui development is sponsored by Rerun, a startup building an SDK for visualizing streams of multimodal data.

Highlights

  • New egui_mcp crate based on eguis new inspection protocol
  • Set classes on your Uis to modify widget behavior based on surrounding context
  • Improved IME

Egui inspection and egui_mcp

This release includes a new inspection protocol for egui. It allows reading the accesskit tree of a running app, as well as sending events to control it. It's implemented via a new InspectionPlugin in the egui_inspection crate. Eframe includes a new inspection feature. When enabled, you can enable inspection by launching the app with EGUI_INSPECTION=1. This will cause the app to listen on port 5719.

The first inspection protocol consumer is egui_mcp. It's a mcp server that allows your agent to see and use egui apps. It can be used to have the agent use the app, reproduce bugs and verify its changes. Install it via cargo install --git https://github.com/rerun-io/kittest_inspector egui_mcp and then add it to your agent via claude mcp add egui egui-mcp.

There is also a plan of adding a general inspection gui using the same protocol, that can e.g. be used to step through kittest tests frame by frame.

Here is claude using the mcp to try some of the egui demos (sped up by a lot, claude is slow):

Screen.Recording.2026-06-25.at.19.58.20.15s.mov

Classes

As part of css like styling, we've added classes to egui. You can already use them to e.g. modify widget behavior or styling based on surrounding context. Add classes to the container:

ui.scope_builder(UiBuilder::new().with_class("my_container"), |ui| {
    ...
});

  let in_container = ui.stack().iter().any(|s| s.classes.has("my_container"));

Today this only works for custom widgets and ui code, but the next step will be a styling system that allows you to modify built in widget styling based on these classes.

Updates gungraun from 0.19.2 to 0.19.3

Release notes

Sourced from gungraun's releases.

v0.19.3

[0.19.3] - 2026-06-27

Added

  • (#668): Added the new gungraun-summary package for consuming Gungraun summary JSON as typed Rust data. The package currently supports summary schema version v6 and provides version-aware parsing helpers for loading summary files.

Changed

  • (#668): Moved summary schema ownership and generation into gungraun-summary. Summary schemas now live under gungraun-summary/schemas, and the related documentation/tooling was updated accordingly. For backwards-compatibility gungraun-runner/schemas is symlinked to the new location in the gungraun-summary package.
  • (#679): Allow bincode-next version v3 in addition to v2. v3 is backwards-compatible to v2. However, keep v2 in the lock file due to the MSRV.
  • (#597,#679): True serial execution of benchmarks instead of routing through the thread-pool with one worker. The goal was to run benchmarks and processing of data in parallel to speed up the overall benchmark execution. Although Valgrind is able to handle this scenario, it is desirable to keep the workflow serial for isolation purposes. This change also fixes the slow down in #597 in the usage scenario in which many groups only contain a single or few benchmarks.
  • Rename the private ui_tests feature to __ui_tests
  • Update dependencies

Fixed

  • (#669): Fix unwraps in parsers. These are all defensive fixes, with little to no occurrences in real situations. However, in case of malformed files or utf8 errors, proper error propagation is now used.
  • (#669): Fix Callgrind parser when missing the format banner. This is also a defensive fix, since Valgrind should always print this banner.

Updates wgpu from 29.0.3 to 30.0.0

Changelog

Sourced from wgpu's changelog.

v30.0.0 (2026-07-01)

Major changes

Optional vertex buffer slots

This allows gaps in VertexState's buffers and adds support for unbinding vertex buffers, bringing us in compliance with the WebGPU spec. As a result of this, VertexState's buffers field now has type of &[Option<VertexBufferLayout>]. To migrate, wrap vertex buffer layouts in Some:

  let vertex_state = wgpu::VertexState {
      module: &vs_module,
      entry_point: Some("vs_main"),
      compilation_options: wgpu::PipelineCompilationOptions::default(),
      buffers: &[
-         &vertex_buffer_layout
+         Some(&vertex_buffer_layout)
      ],
  };

By @teoxoy in #9351.

Integer shader I/O no longer defaults to @interpolate(flat)

To align with the shading language specifications, naga no longer assumes that integer-typed shader I/O should have flat interpolation, i.e., should not be interpolated. Even though flat interpolation is the only choice for integer I/O, it must be still specified explicitly.

WGSL:

 struct FragmentInput {
     @location(0) tex_coord: vec2<f32>,
-    @location(1) index: i32,
+    @location(1) @interpolate(flat) index: i32,
 }

GLSL:

-layout(location = 1) in int index;
+layout(location = 1) flat in int index;

By @andyleiserson in #9321.

Empty buffer slices are now permitted

Creating a BufferSlice with a length of 0 no longer causes a panic.

Empty buffer slices can be:

Looks like these dependencies are updatable in another way, so this is no longer needed.
