This local benchmark was something I wrote for the purposes of quickly testing interfaces for HPOBench benchmarks without the need to load up any of the actual benchmarks, install any dependencies, or even install singularity. Essentially, a bare-bones interface testing tool. The idea is that HPOBench benchmark-like objects with any desired configuration space and/or fidelity space can be programmatically generated to test any number of boundary conditions. Since I already wrote the code, I thought it might make a nice addition to the official upstream repo.
