databricks_project

ecently completed an end-to-end analytics project using Databricks, and this was actually my first time working with the platform.

What stood out immediately is how Databricks has evolved beyond traditional BI tools into what’s now being called Data Intelligence — combining SQL, governance, and AI in one ecosystem.

🔍 What I worked on in Databricks:

Used Databricks SQL for data exploration, KPI creation, and trend analysis

Tried AI Genie (a newer feature) to ask business questions in natural language and review the SQL it generated — a glimpse into the future of self-service analytics

Worked within a governed setup using Unity Catalog, which manages data access and analytics assets in one place

Leveraged serverless SQL, meaning fast analytics without managing clusters — very similar to how modern teams work at scale

📊 Final output (Power BI): The attached dashboard is the final Power BI report, built on top of Databricks as the single source of truth.

✨ Key features in the dashboard:

Dynamic Top-N selection (users can switch between top customers or top products by sales)

Interactive country and date filters for quick analysis

Sales trends and category insights designed for business users
