Note: fix relies on (patched version of metalua)[https://github.com/hleb-rubanau/metalua/tree/dev], submodule dependency is temporary repointed. Eventually it should be reverted to https://github.com/compy-toys/metalua/tree/dev (after compy-toys/metalua#1 is merged)

This is draft PR. It relies on metalua patch, and submodule is currently pointed to dev fork of metalua, to enable testing.
Once metalua patch is accepted, submodule reference in this PR should be updated again, and only then should it be merged.
