Opening (first six moves)
Each player places three pieces on empty squares, one at a time.
After that
On your turn you can:
- Place a piece you haven’t used yet
- Move a piece already on the board (standard chess rules on the 4×4 grid)
- Capture an opponent’s piece
- Respawn a captured piece onto an empty square
Pawns move away from your side of the board. When a pawn reaches the far edge, it turns around and moves back.
Winning
Four of your pieces in a row, column, or diagonal wins immediately.
Draws
Either player can offer a draw; the other can accept or decline.
