TITLE

This is a fork of Augustus mod/remake for Caesar 3. This mod is based on version 4.0.0 of Augustus. It aims to rebalance annoying artificial difficulty that came originally with the game.

Important

Windows_logo_-_2012 this is a Windows only release. You can still edit cmakelists.txt and recompile for linux.

What it does:

MISSION TIMERS:

3B76DEC5A99391098375266E4E03FBE681C2CBE2_large

It removes the "Favor" draining after the invisible mission timer expires. Each mission has an internal timer in which the game simulates the emperor getting anxious of progress, when it ends and you have not reached the mission goals it starts draining 2 points of "Favor" each year. Problem is that emperor requests (to replenish Favor points if completed) are limited on each mission, meaning that if you run out of those, you are left only with "family savings" to replenish Favor; the problem as you know, is that those cannot be used much because each time used they are less and less effective. All this puts you in a death spiral in which you end up destroyed by the emperor's legions. The patch removes the timer by telling it "we are always on time". Note that emperor requests time is not touched so you must comply with it as in the vanilla version.

CONSTANT FIRES:

ss_2b005cd8653192b365ea208e71999c8992f5c7d2 1920x1080

It makes fires mechanics much more forgiving (but not immune or cheaty) to the bad paths of the prefects. Now houses and general buildings are closer to Pharaoh's resistance to fire, making it slower to increase fire risks and giving time to prefects to do its pass. This way you avoid converting the gameplay into an anti-arsonists minigame to make it a city builder again.

PROSPERITY LOOP:

Tiny-Map-10800

In the vanilla game (and Augustus) patricians don't work. This means that you will get into a loop that makes it impossible to progress with scenario objectives. Why? because you need workforce to keep services to keep patricians (high end houses). When you need high prosperity, most of your city will be patricians -> sudden drop of workforce -> services stop running efficiently to maintain patricians -> patricians devolve = prosperity drops sharply. Its the snake that bites its own tail. This patch makes 90% of the patricians add to workforce so you get a slight workforce drop but keep almost all services intact to keep progression going while making adjustments.

POTTERY BUG (markets don't buy needed goods):

mhPyEXr5ER

In Caesar 3, there is a bug where markets will check for required goods and if that good is not available it will stop checking for other goods for a while. This creates a problem where if you leave markets by default to buy everything (everyone does this), the market will try to get all the goods and if even one of them is not available (for example fish in maps that don't have it) it will stop checking for the other goods for some time.
