What's Changed since the pre-release

Release 2026-05-15

Release Purpose

With a large amount of work having been put into the high-level assessment over the past few months, we now release a new version of the guidebook which is largely complete up to the end of Part II. We are aware that further work is required to add more information about alternative tool choices for the various metrics, and to continue to clean up the parts of the guidebook which act as reference to the pre-assessment methodology.

Chapter-by-chapter updates

Part II: High Level Overview

3. Process (new)

The overall process of assessment has been split out into a new chapter 3, and Part II High Level Overview now includes this new chapter 3 and following chapters.

4. Preparation

This chapter now more closely tracks the pre-assessment methodology. Sections that fall outside the methodology have been moved elsewhere or deleted, and this work will continue.

5. High-level first glance

The high-level assessment chapter is now in a state where we believe assessments can begin to be carried out using the methodology detailed in the guidebook. The ordering of sections in this chapter has been updated

Part III: Deep Dive

This part contains some information about workflow and particularly intra-node analysis, but is nowhere near ready for consistent use. We aim to continue to expand on the part as a whole through completing deeper performance assessments in the future.
