Started work towards transition the server towards ES Modules and Typescript to improve maintainability for the future. Wanted to give it ago to get scope on the entanglement potential.
Turns out it is quite high, mostly due to the high number of mad array operations I've attempted (in my youthful naivety). The biggest thing though is just the amount of testing I would need to do, and it doesn't feel so good to do right now, until I have added in some automated testing for the main parts of the server.
I'll look to schedule in this work in the coming weeks, but will leave it for now to focus on other priorities in the frontend
