+note: "This stemma aims at representing the main links between the Catalan, Occitan and Italian versions of Barlaam and Josaphat. The hypothesis defended by Fabio Zinelli is that all these versions are descended from an original translation, made in Catalan, of the Latin translation (12th century), itself derived from the Byzantine Greek version (11th century). Not all witnesses of all versions are shown, just the archetype of the version when there are multiple witnesses (in the case of the italian versions for instance). Several contaminations are mentionned hypothetically in the text, following the previous conclusions of Frosini. In particular, beta would have used a source close to G and one close to alpha; alpha would have used a source close to G, and alpha's occitan model would bear an extra-archetypal contamination from a better Latin source than the one used for the original Catalan translation."
