The Reverse Turing Test

AI pretends to be human. You pretend to be AI.


The Idea

In 1950, Alan Turing proposed a simple but revolutionary question:

Can machines think?

To explore it, he introduced what later became known as the Turing Test.

A human judge would talk to two participants:

  • A human
  • A machine

If the judge could not reliably tell which was which, the machine had successfully imitated human behavior.

For decades, AI researchers focused on one goal:

Making AI sound human.

PretendAI flips that idea entirely.

Instead of asking:

Can AI convince humans that it is human?

PretendAI asks:

Can humans convince AI that they are AI?

This is the Reverse Turing Test.
