User Guide

Learn how to use the SourceXchange Sync Bot as a Discord server member.

Getting Started

Before you can use the bot, you need to:

  1. Have a SourceXchange account
  2. Link your Discord account to SourceXchange
  3. Purchase the product associated with the Discord role

Linking Your Discord Account

Step 1: Log in to SourceXchange

Visit SourceXchange and log in to your account.

Step 2: Connect Discord

  1. Go to your account settings
  2. Find the Discord integration section
  3. Click "Connect Discord"
  4. Authorize SourceXchange to access your Discord information

Step 3: Verify Connection

You should see your Discord username displayed in your SourceXchange account settings.

Using Bot Commands

The bot provides two main slash commands:

/products - View Your Purchases

Shows all products you've purchased on SourceXchange.

How to use:

  1. Type /products in any channel where the bot has access
  2. Press Enter
  3. The bot will display your purchased products

Example Response:

If you haven't linked your Discord:

Failed to fetch products. Make sure your Discord is linked.

/sync - Sync Your Role

Checks your product purchases and grants or removes the configured role.

How to use:

  1. Type /sync in any channel where the bot has access
  2. Press Enter
  3. The bot will check your purchases and update your role

Success Responses:

If you own the product:

Role [Role Name] has been added!

If you don't own the product:

You don't have access to this product.

Error Responses:

Discord not linked:

Failed to sync roles. Make sure your Discord is linked.

Role not found:

Role not found in this server.

Common Scenarios

Scenario 1: Just Purchased a Product

After purchasing a product on SourceXchange:

  1. Wait a few minutes for the purchase to process
  2. Run /sync in your Discord server
  3. You should receive the associated role automatically

Scenario 2: Lost Access to Product

If your subscription expires or access is revoked:

  1. The bot will remove your role next time /sync is run

Scenario 3: Joined a New Server

When joining a new server with the bot:

  1. Make sure your Discord is linked to SourceXchange
  2. Run /sync to receive your role
  3. The bot will verify your purchases and grant appropriate access

Troubleshooting for Users

"Discord is not linked" Error

Problem: The bot can't find your SourceXchange account.

Solution:

  1. Visit SourceXchange
  2. Log in and go to account settings
  3. Disconnect and reconnect your Discord account
  4. Try /sync again after a few minutes

Commands Not Showing Up

Problem: Slash commands don't appear when you type /.

Solution:

  • The bot might not have proper permissions in the channel
  • Ask a server administrator to check bot permissions
  • Try using the command in a different channel

Role Not Granted After Purchase

Problem: You purchased the product but didn't receive the role.

Solution:

  1. Wait 5-10 minutes for the purchase to process
  2. Verify your Discord is linked on SourceXchange
  3. Run /sync manually
  4. If still not working, contact a server administrator

Role Removed Unexpectedly

Problem: Your role was removed even though you still own the product.

Possible Causes:

  • Your SourceXchange payment failed or subscription expired
  • Your Discord account was unlinked from SourceXchange
  • The bot configuration changed

Solution:

  1. Check your SourceXchange account status
  2. Verify your Discord is still linked
  3. Run /sync to re-check your access
  4. Contact the product owner if issues persist

Privacy & Data

What Information Does the Bot Access?

The bot only accesses:

  • Your Discord User ID
  • Your SourceXchange product purchases
  • Your Discord server roles

Is My Data Stored?

No, the bot does not store any personal data. All checks are performed in real-time through the SourceXchange API.

Best Practices

Do:

  • Spam the /sync command repeatedly
