I would argue that "be" is valid English, in some areas, usually used for expression.

Although I agree that be is grammatically correct, for non-native speakers it can be confusing when used this way.

I agree that the language could be simplified for clarity.Removed the phrase "which is a plain text markup format" and simplified it to "a simple text formatting language" to make it clearer for non-technical readers.
Replaced "whether your masterpiece be" with "whether you're working on" to avoid the more complex, literary phrasing that might confuse non-native speakers or readers unfamiliar with such expressions.

I hate to nitpick, but wouldn't it make more sense to use install older versions?

Both can work, your suggestion may imply Fedora users can install multiple versions simultaneously. Where as an older version means any single previous version.

I agree that language could be simplified for clarity. Replace "older" with "earlier" to make it sound more natural in this context . Replace "entering" with "running" as "running" is commonly used when referring to executing commands in a terminal.
