Project Prototype

J Scott Christianson edited this page Mar 22, 2016 · 1 revision

In order to prove the feasability of this project we created a prototype using a popular open-source hardware platform, the Arduino. Since we wanted the device to be as small as possible, we created.

The hardware consists of

ID-12LA RFID reader from ID Innovations (ordered from Sparkfun Electronics)

Adapter board for RFID Reader from Sparkfun Electronics TinyDuino Main board TinyDuino Audio Board TinyDuino Memory Board TinyDuino USB Board TinyDuino Protoboard

Here are the pins that are used by the boards: TinyDuino USB Board

Digital Pin 0 Digital Pin 1 TinyDuino Audio Board

Digital Pin 2 Digital Pin 3 Digital Pin 4 TinyDuino Memory Board

Digital Pin 10 Digital Pin 11 Digital Pin 12 Digital Pin 13 TinyDuino Proto Board

Digital Pin 8 Connected to D0 on the RFID Reader Analog Pin 0 Connected to Res (future use: the RES pin can be used to see of the reader is still over the same RFID chip) In addition the following connections are made from the Proto Board to the RFID Reader

GND –> GND FORM –> GND (defaults the RFID chip to RS232) VCC –> 5V Note, this must be powered by USB or a large battery
