- Peterson Field Guide to Birds of North America
- I own this. Love the book and I usually carry this while birding, even though it is heavier and larger.
- Illustrations are drawn by an artist and are excellent, but details on some birds could be depicted a little better and I wish there were more variations in plumages depicted.
- Kaufman Field Guide to Birds of North America
- I own this. Pocket size perfect for carrying while birding.
- Illustrations are edited photographs and not drawings, which feels a little awkward to me. Good depiction of multitude of plumages, though.
