I have implemented several micro-UX and accessibility improvements in the GameDetailHeader component to make it more intuitive and inclusive.

💡 What:

  • Clear Rating Feature: Added a button to reset the personal rating to null.
  • Semantic HTML: Converted the clickable folder path into a semantic <button> with focus indicators.
  • Label Associations: Properly linked labels to the platform selector and rating range input using unique IDs.
  • Accessibility Polish: Added aria-label to the folder path button and marked decorative elements (icons, min/max range labels) with aria-hidden="true".
  • Build Fix: Removed an unused state variable in GameScreenshotsCarousel that was causing production build failures.

🎯 Why:

  • Users needed a way to unset their personal ratings without a backend reset.
  • The folder path was clickable but not keyboard-navigable or correctly announced by screen readers.
  • Form inputs lacked explicit label associations, which is a critical accessibility requirement.

♿ Accessibility:

  • Improved keyboard navigation via semantic buttons and focus rings.
  • Enhanced screen reader support through descriptive aria-labels and htmlFor associations.
  • Reduced noise for assistive technologies by hiding decorative icons.

🛠️ Verification:

  • Ran pnpm build and pnpm test successfully.
  • Verified visual changes and accessibility associations using a Playwright script and manual inspection of screenshots.
