Harbor Commons is an open data platform for sailing and maritime nonprofit infrastructure. It makes public records legible for practitioners, boards, funders, and researchers who need a field-level view but do not have in-house data capacity. Currently scoped to waterfront and community organizations; expanding by sector.
Small organizations are routinely asked to make strategic decisions with almost no shared infrastructure. Harbor Commons turns that problem inside out by organizing public nonprofit records into a field-usable reference layer.
Current scope:
- 4.2M IRS filings in the underlying public-record universe
- 2,000+ sailing and maritime organizations surfaced for field analysis
- 13 filing years of longitudinal nonprofit infrastructure context
