Summary
Previously, when the auto assign mentor chain picked a senior maintainer for a PR, the assignment was only written to the database. The mentor was never notified, forcing them to manually check the PR queue to discover their assignments.
I had implemented a robust notification flow for auto assignments and mirroring the existing help dispatch architecture.
