bio: "Malikka Begum is a Senior Research Associate at the Centre for Research in Child Development, National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Her research sits at the intersection of developmental cognitive neuroscience and the science of learning. She is interested in understanding the neural and cognitive mechanisms that underpin early literacy development, with a focus on how fine motor skills, visual-spatial integration, and grapho-motor processes support reading and spelling acquisition. Her work also examines bilingual language experience and its influence on children's social-emotional and behavioral outcomes, as well as cognitive correlates of response to reading intervention. She has investigated dynamic functional connectivity in ADHD using resting-state fMRI and is broadly interested in translating neuroscientific insights into evidence-based educational practices."
