Redesign the research reading system

What changed

• Rebuilt the site as a restrained, OpenAI-inspired editorial reading system: white canvas, system sans typography, generous spacing, a light table of contents, and flat archive rows.
• Removed the public side-by-side comparison mode. The interface now shows one complete language at a time with only 中文 and English controls.
• Preserved both canonical Markdown editions, semantic pair anchors, section-aware scroll restoration, content audits, and every project folder.
• Reworked the root, collection, and project READMEs into a cleaner folder-first portfolio index.
• Updated the publishing contract and built-site audit so the legacy both UI cannot return.

Why

The previous presentation read like a bilingual review dashboard. This change makes the research itself the visual focus while retaining the internal bilingual integrity checks and the repository's complete provenance package.

• Browser QA at desktop and 390px: Chinese/English exclusivity, query-state persistence, collapsed mobile outline, no horizontal overflow, and correct article resources
• Protected Manifold report files, metadata, migration manifest, and the 389-file source snapshot are unchanged

GitHub Pages remains disabled; production continues through the existing independent Sites project.
