Failed to import openseespy on Windows

I'm unable to run openseespy. please help. I'm getting following error:
RuntimeError: Failed to import openseespy on Windows: DLL load failed while importing opensees: The specified module could not be found.

Please provide more information like version of Python, how you installed openseespy, etc. What you posted doesn't really offer many clues.

I am unable to run it on latest version of python 3.14. Although I was able run openseespy on python version 3.10. I think some compatibility issue among the softwares. I used pip istall openseespy command to install openseespy.

OpenSeesPy on Win11 with a Python 3.12 virtual environment

openseespy appeared to be installed, but the script failed with an error like:

RuntimeError: openseespy not available. Install openseespy.

The cause was that the environment was using Python 3.14, while in the verified Windows setup OpenSeesPy worked correctly with Python 3.12.

Full procedure

1. Install Python 3.12 if it is missing

py install 3.12

2. Create a new virtual environment with Python 3.12

py -V:3.12 -m venv venv312

3. Verify that the Python executable from the new environment is the correct one

.\venv312\Scripts\python.exe --version
.\venv312\Scripts\python.exe -c "import sys; print(sys.executable)"

Install packages in the correct virtual environment

4. Upgrade pip

.\venv312\Scripts\python.exe -m pip install --upgrade pip

5. Install openseespy

.\venv312\Scripts\python.exe -m pip install openseespy

Final verification

6. Verify that OpenSeesPy imports correctly

.\venv312\Scripts\python.exe -c "import openseespy.opensees as ops; print(ops.version())"

Expected output:

3.8.0
