taocp 4b 7.2.2.2: Improve Algorithm X step X4 performance

X4 seems to be working, but very slowly. Consider these changes:

• Reduce make() allocs
• Remove recursive calls
• Place limit on number of candidate literals

Also consider creating new literal struct used across operations.
