Problem or Use Case
Hi there! This is a pie-in-the-sky request. Currently, the Projects tab allows you to associate print files with projects, but doesn't offer specific part-by-part inventory tracking. It allows you to keep track of the total number of parts which is useful for projects of multiple quantities of the same part.
It would be awesome to have a manufacturing-focused way to organize and schedule/organize jobs that have multiple components for the same order.
Proposed Solution
It would be lovely to set up an alternate Projects tab that uses the same functionality as this other print farm manager. This is primarily geared towards print farms that have jobs with multiple quantities of different parts for a single order. Essentially, you can tell the software:
- What printed parts I need for an order, what materials they are to be made from, and how many of each
- What printers have sliced gcode / can run compatible material to run those parts, and how many of that part are needed
Then the software automatically schedules jobs based on printer availability/compatibility and progress through the job.
All of the rest of the scheduling functionality that you have works extremely well, it would basically just be nice to automate the figuring out of:
- I need 200 of Part A
- I need 300 of Part B
- 10 of Part A fit on a print bed
- 15 of Part B fit on a print bed

- How many trays do I need and when should they run?
Additionally, the software could ask if all components on a particular tray were successful, so it knows if it needs to add more trays of parts to the schedule to compensate.
Alternatives Considered
I have briefly used the previously linked print farm manager software, and this functionality works well - but it struggles with actually deploying jobs to printers and other networking issues
