Automation breaks interaction

When I automate a parameter, the corresponding UI element updates. But it looks likes that element then also takes focus. As a result the UI doesn't respond to interactions with other parameters.

In the video below you see a clear example. I'm moving the "Size" knob continuously. But when the "Wet" slider on the right is automated the "Size" does not respond to UI interaction anymore.

I have a branch for debugging this issue on my fork of the repository.
If it helps I can open a PR so you can debug with these changes.

Even though it's a small set of changes. I basically added another parameter to the gain_gui example. So you can automate one parameter and interact with the other parameter through the UI.
