Currently Silence only works on Windows (WinUI). There's no way to get the same global mic mute experience on macOS — existing alternatives lack the polish, overlay, sounds, and force-mute features that Silence provides.

Global hotkey to toggle system-wide mic mute
Visual overlay indicating mute state
Optional mute/unmute sounds
Force mute (prevent apps like Zoom/Teams from re-enabling the mic)
Menu bar icon showing current mic state

MuteKey (App Store, free) — basic hotkey + menubar icon, no overlay or force mute
MuteMic (paid) — has force mute but no modern overlay
Automator + osascript — DIY solution, no visual feedback, no force mute
