Hardware Requirements

Well ... my computer may have just died. Oy.

Probably today's machines are all wonderfully powerful and fast, but, in the event that I need to buy a new computer, could someone give me some advice about the sort of computing power I might need for this class ... or for the near future?

(Is there any danger, for example, of buying a new product that's incapable of supporting Sage Math Cloud or of doing everything I want to be able to do with git, C, Python etc.?)

Any computer with a web browser can access SMC. After the class, if you wish, you could purchase a personal account. I know some colleagues who have done this and opted for a smaller, lighter laptop for portability.

It's had to say what kind of computer you should get without first knowing about what kinds of work you are / are planning on doing.
