bug: fatal: not a git repository

Description

When trying to open an existing local repo to start a session, it wont let me proceed, stating Git command failed: fatal: not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git

Steps to Reproduce

1. Click: Add a repository
2. Select a folder (any, whether empty or existing code from the official app)
3. Try to click add but get the error.

@profucius sorry the notification for this got lost in the GitHub noise. I cannot reproduce this. If you freshly clone a repo then add, does this occur?
