adjust margins and paddings

with the new design of google chat, i feel more the need to also adjust some margins and paddings. would it be feasible to include those and make them configurable?

The current design of the code just transforms a consistent set of colors to different consistent set of colors throughout the styling. This might not apply to spacing. But hard to say without trying.

Where do you see the need for this?

so actually i just reviewed it, and i would actually say its not only paddings and margins, but also hiding things completely and resizing things. as a start, i would like to change the look and feel of the sidebar on the left:

i dont need the preview text in the sidebar, and the pictures could be smaller. additionally the spacing in between is a lot. as a target, i would think the slack style is appropiate:
